Sandra "Sandy" L. Maffucci, 71, of Eau Claire and formerly of Durand, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Sandy was born in Minneapolis, MN, on October 25, 1940, a daughter of Fern and Kenneth Pomasl. Sandy was married and raised three children. Sandy worked as a medical records director at various medical facilities. She also owned and operated a delicatessen in Des Moines, IA. As a young woman, Sandy enjoyed traveling throughout the United States as a store detective. Family was paramount to Sandy and she surrounded herself with photographs of those she loved. Sandy shared her enjoyment of music with everyone. Her singing brightened many family occasions and livened up car rides. To our delight, her fingers used to make the keyboard of her organ dance. Sandy loved animals, especially birds, as shown by her extensive figurine collection. Her crocheted afghans are treasures that warm our hearts. Sandra is survived by her son, Bill (Jennifer) Maffucci of Clive, IA; two daughters, Paige (Glenn) Armstrong of New Mexico and Shannon (Wayne) Small of Texas; two grandsons, Johnathan and Cameron Maffucci; two brothers, Gregg (Akemi) Pomasl of Altoona, WI and Scott (Linda) Goderstad of Hot Springs Village, AR; a sister, Lindsay (Dean) Koepke of Mosinee, WI; and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Raymond Ellison. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2012, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastor Steve Kaste officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Sandy will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the team at Community Health Partnership for their continued support of Sandy.
