Sharen Voldsness Hoepner, age 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on July 25, 2015. Sharen was born June, 13, 1944, to Spencer and Elvina (Johnson) Voldsness in Eau Claire, WI. Sharen graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1962, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from UWEC in 1966. She earned many post-graduate credits, also at UWEC. Sharen was united in marriage to Ronald Hoepner, on August 19, 1967, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI. Sharen taught elementary school in Roseville, MN, Menomonie, WI, and finished her career in Augusta, WI, retiring in 2001. Sharen was a long time member of the TECH Book Group, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and she volunteered with Hmong Literacy and Meals on Wheels. Sharen and Ron enjoyed traveling and spending time at their cabin with family and friends. Sharen enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, and was a creative cook who loved trying out new recipes. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and a very dedicated and loving Grandma to Mason, Addi, Quinton, and Weston. Sharen is survived by her husband, Ron; a daughter, Alisa (Paul) Schley of Chippewa Falls, WI, a son, Bill (Terri) Hoepner of Altoona, WI; four grandchildren, Mason and Addison Hoepner, and Quinton and Weston Schley; two sisters, Elaine (Gordon) Voss of Wayzata, MN, and Dianne (Ron) Powers of Eau Claire, WI; brother-in-law, Gary Hoepner and sister-in-law, Sandy (Dave) Schuman both of LaCrosse,WI, and sister-in-law, Sue (Greg) Scott of Augusta, WI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sharen was preceded in death by her mother and father; and mother and father-in-law, William and Marge Hoepner. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran, 1314 Lexington Blvd., in Eau Claire, with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Meals on Wheels, 7212 Oxford Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54703; Feed My People, 2610 Alpine Rd. Eau Claire, WI 54703; or a charity of the donor's choice.
