Shirley Ann Marek, 100, of Eau Claire, WI, died Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Cambridge Senior Living.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (1712 Highland Avenue), Eau Claire, WI.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church from 10 – 11 a.m.

Shirley was born at Mounds Park Hospital in St. Paul, MN on April 18, 1924, to Edward and Theresa (Yakish) Postl.  She attended St. Paul's Catholic School, and later graduated from Bloomer High School in 1942.  Shirley would then attend Eau Claire Technical School and Eau Claire Teacher College.  In 1944, she married the boy across the road, Leon Marek, who was the love of her life at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer, WI.  Leon worked at Uniroyal, so they decided to move to Eau Claire in 1945.  They attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church for many years.

Shirley is survived by her children; Gerald (Karen) Marek, Ann (James) Statz, grandchildren; Andrew Marek, Katherine Marek, Laura (Aaron) O'Connell, Paul (Abbie) Statz, Kevin (Erika) Statz, great-grandchildren; Jerry Alan Marek, Madison Martin, Colin Statz, Emily O'Connell, Zachary O'Connell and Magnolia Statz, great-great grandchildren: Violet and Patrick Marek, godchildren: Bonita Kunsman, Bonnie Delray, Candyce Sarauer and is further survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, husband Leon Marek and grandson Brian Marek.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Eau Claire Catholic Charities.
