Shirley Mae (Voelker) Yaeger, age 91, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away peacefully after a short illness on April 30, 2026. She was surrounded by her family and caregivers at Grace Willowbrook and St Croix Hospice.
Shirley was born on August 7, 1934 in Coleman, WI. She was the daughter of Charles and Elsie Voelker (Hoida). She was known for her love of her family and friends and was an endless source of stories, smiles and laughter for those close to her. She brought joy and a smile to all those who knew her.
Shirley has lived in Eau Claire for nearly 70 years and was a mom and homemaker, later earning her degree as a ward clerk from CVTC and worked at Sacred Heart Hospital. She had various other positions and volunteered with the Red Cross and other Agencies.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Peter and his wife, Mary and her grandchildren, Jace and Ellison (Brandon). She will also be missed by the rest of her extended family and very close friends. We can't fail to mention her grandpups Buck and Maggie.
We would like to thank the caregivers of Willowbrook Assisted Living and St Croix Hospice for their incredible love and support. Shirley spoke so often of her "favorites" and we know how special you all were to her.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11am on Monday, May 4, 2026 with Father John Schultz officiating at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery Eau Claire. Online condolences may be shared at www.lenmarkfh.com.
