Sonja Doughty (Pheifer) died peacefully on September 9, 2023 in Wausau, WI at the age of 58. Sonja is survived by her husband, Donovan Doughty; children, Joshua Doughty, Kaitlin Zydowsky (David), Hanna Doughty, Becca Doughty (Matthew); sister, Jennifer Stamm; grandchildren, Louie Zydowsky and Annabelle Zydowsky. She is preceded in death by her father, Henry Pheifer Sonja was born on July 7, 1965 in Eau Claire, WI to Carol & Henry Pheifer. She graduated from UW Eau Claire with a degree in Early Childhood Special Education. She married Donovan, the love of her life in 1988. Sonja worked as a Special Education Teacher for many years before staying home with her children. When they were older, she began teaching in Early Childhood which led into her becoming a Catholic School Principal where she continued to touch the lives of countless students and teachers. Within this time period, Sonja and Donovan raised 4 children. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle, patient, driven mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She was a generous, giving and dedicated individual who loved teaching, helping others and playing with her grandkids. She was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be at 10am on Friday, September 15, with the funeral service taking place at 11am at St Olaf's Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe Street, Eau Claire, WI.
