Stanley Wayne Peterson, 67, of rural Fall Creek passed away Wednesday, November 24th, 2010, after his brave battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He was born on May 12, 1943 to Leigh O. and Miriam (Smalley-Schwass) Peterson of Eau Claire. Stanley married Judith L. Johnson on October 17, 1964 in Eau Claire.Stanley is a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a combat medic in Vietnam. As an over-the-road semi driver his entire career, Stanley enjoyed traveling the United States from coast to coast and meeting new people wherever he went. Stanley was a lover of the great outdoors and nature's beauty, and appreciated the simple pleasures of life such as a good story, a tasty meal, a hard day's work, or a child's laughter. Stanley was a fun-loving Dad and grandpa who loved to tell detailed stories, found the humor in life's path, and lovingly encouraged and supported his loved ones in their many endeavors. Stanley is survived by his eight children, Leslie (Kevin) Hildebrandt of Fremont, Ingrid (Kevin) Schultz of Fall Creek, Zoe Peterson of Milwaukee, Ivy (Joshua) Scholfield of Menomonie, Sunny (Ryan) Wundrow of Eau Claire, Ted (Emily) Peterson of Augusta, Marta (Jeremy) Greenhow of Eau Claire, and Charlette Peterson of Eau Claire; 14 grandchildren, Chandler Hildebrandt, Mason Hildebrandt, Carter Hildebrandt, Rio Hildebrandt, Hale Schultz, Esobel Schultz, Drake Schultz, Sophia Schultz, Devante Joseph, Lucy Wundrow, Bailey Peterson, Ava Peterson, Maya Peterson, Zephyr Greenhow; sisters Lonnie (William) Perry of Chetek; Annette (Vernon)Young of Hillsdale, Meg Sackett of Eau Claire, and Patricia (Lewis) Sackett of Eau Claire, and many nieces and nephews.Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Leigh O. and Miriam Peterson; and former wife Judith Peterson. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, with Perry Pearson and Erwin Hoest officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, December 1 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
