Stephen J. Rosolack, 60, of Eau Claire, died Monday, September 24, 2001 at his home. He was born on September 25, 1940 in Eau Claire to August and Ruby (Eisold) Rosolack. Steve married Mary Louise Nichols on December 26, 1966, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Eau Claire. \r\nSteve received his early education at St. James, St. Patrick's and Sherman Elementary schools; his high school years were at St. Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad, IN graduating in 1958, and he attended college there for two years. Returning to Eau Claire, Steve graduated from UW-EC in 1965 with a BS degree in Medical Technology. During these years, he worked as an orderly at Luther Hospital as well as in the lab at Sacred Heart Hospital. In 1969, Steve received a BA in Music, 1968 through 1970 found Steve teaching music at Holy Cross Seminary in LaCrosse. Returning to school, he earned his MA degree in Music at UW-Madison in 1971. 1971-1972 found him working at St. Mary's Medical Center in Madison; 1972-1974 he was at University of Illinois-Urbana doing doctoral studies; in 1974-1979, Steve joined the Diocese of Peoria providing the music program at the Cathedral and education program for the 165 churches in the diocese; 1980-1983, Steve taught at the University of Santa Clara, CA., 1983-1985 brought him to Murray State University in Murray, KY; in 1985. Steve returned to Eau Claire and the UW-EC campus as Associate Professor of Music. Steve retired from the University this past May.\r\nSteve was a member of The Kiwanis Club of Eau Claire Inc. (Noon Club) and was an active member of several professional musical organizations. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and traveling.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Mary; son, Paul; father, August; mother-in-law, Mabel Nichols; two brothers, Daniel (Ellie) Rosolack and Gregory (Kathy) Rosolack all of Eau Claire; sister, Pamela Bodwin of Harvey, IL; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and his dog, Bruno. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby; and his father-in-law, Nicholas Nichols. \r\nMass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2001 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Janusz Kowalski officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home where there will be a 7:00 p.m. public prayer service.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be directed to St. Bede Monastery, St. Meinrad Archabbey or the UW-Eau Claire Womens Concert Chorale
