Obituary

Steven P. "Butter" Butterfield, 54, of 3331 Midway Street, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at his home with his family by his side.\r\nHe was born in Eau Claire on August 30, 1948 the son of Theodore and Constance (Matchey) Butterfield. He graduated from Regis High School with class of 1966.\r\nSteve married Connie J. Woodford on September 24, 1977 in Eau Claire.\r\nSteve worked for the City of Eau Claire for over 34 years. He was an active member and served many offices of Local # 284. Steve was an avid and well-informed sports fan of all types and levels. He enjoyed following his son and grandson's sports participation; he never missed their ballgames. Steve spent his winters ice fishing on Lake Altoona with his buddies and each spring looked forward to hosting his annual fish fry.\r\nGo Pack!\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Connie; a son, Steven (Jodi) of Eau Claire; a daughter, Susan (Brian) Atchison of Chippewa Falls, four grandchildren, Jacob and Jolene Butterfield, Tyler and Amber Atchison and another soon-to-be grandson or granddaughter; a sister, Geraldine (Larry) Vatne of Eau Claire; six brothers-in-law, Bob (Mary) of Eau Claire, Bill of San Antonio, TX, Dick, Tim (Pam), David (Renee), and John (Debbie) Woodford all of Eau Claire; two sisters-in-law, Sally (Blaine) Proue of Chippewa Falls and Mary (Don) Cieslak of Eau Claire; his godchildren, Tara Butterfield and Chelsey Rose Winkler; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Trent Steven Atchison; and an infant sister, Beatrice.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William A. Dhein officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church. There will be a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.\r\nHugs, Kisses, Love, Grandpa.
