Steve Christenson, 65, of Eau Claire, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at his home after a long illness with cancer. He was born on December 29, 1950, in Eau Claire to Earl "Chris" and Barbara "Bobbi" (Thompson) Christenson. He attended North High School and graduated with the class of 1969. After high school, Steve served in the National Guard until 1975. On August 15, 1973, Steve married Cappy Farrell. Steve worked at ITT Financial, Consumers Co-op Credit Union and finished his career at Lake Hallie Golf Course retiring in 2011. He was a member of the Eau Claire Jaycees and was involved in the Big Brothers Program. Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cappy; daughter, Stephanie (Matt) Des Forge and their children Kaitlin, Gabriella and Grace; daughter, Courtney (Brock) Haines and their children McKenzi, Taylor and Lydia; mother, Bobbi Christenson; sister, Connie (Jeff) Melland; sister-in-law, Mary (Dave) Schlageter; nieces, Jenni (Will) Lee and their son Tyler, and Kristen (Tim) Hartzel and their daughter, Harper; nephew, John (Megan) McCrackin and their children, Charlotte and Duke; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and his spoiled, furry, four-legged friend, Ellie. He was preceded in death by his father, Chris Christenson; parents-in-law, John and Helen Farrell. Over the years, Steve had countless friends whom he treasured and held dear to his heart. Steve will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of golf, playing cards, fishing and playing softball for many years. He was always so proud of his 6 granddaughters and loved to tease them. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Spirit Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
