Susan Kay Licht, 53, of Ladysmith (formerly of Chippewa Falls) died on Saturday, May 14, 2011 with family by her side. \r\nShe was born on November 16, 1957 in Eau Claire, WI to Melvin and Bernice (Dahlby) Simmons. \r\nSusan worked as a certified nursing assistant at Wissota Health and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls for over 20 years. She took great pride in her work and loved her coworkers and patients dearly. She considered them her family away from home.\r\nSusan was a wonderful sister, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She loved her home on the river where she was able to do things she loved like fishing, watching the birds and wildlife, and being on the water. She looked forward to the spring when she could plant and tend to her flowers, which always turned out beautiful.\r\nShe is survived by her 4 daughters, Autumn (Shawn) Harvey, Lindsey (Israel) Carrera, Stacy Licht, and Tara (Travis Ryan) Licht; 8 grandchildren, Mickelle, Leighton, and Caden Harvey, Deontae, Madysen, and Alivia Carrera, Belue Licht, and Damien Ryan; sister, Karen (Randy) McFadden; 6 brothers, Dale (Debbie), Larry (Carrie), Bob (Vicki), Jim, Randy (Carolyn), and Jason Simmons; her significant other, Bing Goerner; and her beloved dogs, Max and Jack; also many other relatives and all of her very special friends and coworkers who have shown her their love and support.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Bernice Simmons and her grandparents.\r\nA special thank you goes out to her oncologist, Dr. Basu and the wonderful and caring oncology staff at Luther Hospital. Also, thank you to all her friends, family and businesses who helped make her benefit a success. She will truly be missed by all.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave. Eau Claire, with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
