Sylvia O. Peterson, age 85 of Eau Claire, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire. Sylvia was born in Strum, WI, to Schiller and Olga (Breien) Peterson on December 6, 1927. She graduated high school with the class of 1947. Sylvia worked at the Wisconsin Telephone Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1982. Sylvia was a girl scout leader and spent several weeks during the summer helping young ladies earn their badges. She was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers, and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church Friendship Club. She was also a Sunday school teacher at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Sylvia liked to travel, read books and listen to music and enjoyed lutefisk dinners. Most of all she liked to get together with her friends and family, and will be dearly missed by all. Sylvia is survived by her cousin, Milton Moen II, and his sons, Milton (Taletha) Moen III, and Joshua (Tammy) Moen. She is also survived by her cousins, Gladys Bauer, Helen Pike, Maria Breien, and Sandra Smith; along with many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Schiller and Olga Peterson; sister, Lillian Halvorson; nephew, Ronald Halvorson; and cousins, Ardella Holum, Lois Moen, and George Breien. Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 West Grand Ave., with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor David J. Irgens will be officiating. Interment will be in Strum Cemetery, at a later date.
