With the help of his parents, Terry overcame childhood polio. Through sheer determination and hard work, he became good enough to compete in varsity high school athletics. With the support and encouragement of his family and friends, he persevered through personal and professional setbacks. But when Alzheimer’s disease entered his life, even Terry’s greatest efforts could not overcome this devastating illness.

Terry Raymond Allen, age 77, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Grace Edgewood Memory Care Center in Altoona, WI. He was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on April 14, 1949, to the late Claudia R Allen and John D. Allen.

Terry was a humble, sensitive, and loving husband who cared deeply for his family. He had a special soft spot for his granddaughter, Leila, and looked forward to her weekly visits to his home. Those times together brought Terry great joy and created memories that will be treasured by his family forever.

A lifelong runner, Terry completed multiple marathons, demonstrating the determination and perseverance that defined who he was. In addition to distance running, he was an avid cross-country skier and participated in the Birkebeiner race in Hayward, WI, numerous times. He was also a wonderful cook who loved preparing delicious meals for his family and friends. He enjoyed reading and treasured the time he spent at the family cabin at the lake.

Terry attended St. Patrick’s Grade School in Eau Claire and continued his Catholic education at Regis High School, graduating in 1967. He then attended the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and later a master’s degree in business education.

In the fall of 1973, Terry began his career in the Catholic school system in Eau Claire, where he remained until his retirement in 2016. He selflessly served as the Regis athletic director for 39 years. During his years at Regis, Terry taught countless students and coached many athletes. He held fond memories of his time in the classroom, the athletes and coaches he mentored, and the sports programs he directed. He took great satisfaction in the achievements of the students and athletes he had the opportunity to teach, coach, and influence.

Terry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary (Rourk); his two sons, Eric and Michael; his granddaughter, Leila; his sisters, Nancy (Pat) Roering and Susan (Bob) Bach; his brother-in-law, Rocco Sisto; and many nieces, nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Claudia; his brother, Timothy Allen; and his sister, Barbara Allen Sisto.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home (814 First Avenue, Eau Claire). A Mass of Christian Burial for Terry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, (316 Fulton Street, Eau Claire), with visitation held one hour prior to Mass at Church from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Following the Mass, interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. All are welcome to attend a luncheon at Regis High School following the burial.
