Thelma S. Berndt, 96, of Eau Claire, died on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She was born in Oberon, ND on February 13, 1915, the daughter of Stener and Nicoline (Johnson) Omdahl. Thelma's family moved to Eleva when she was in high school, where she graduated from Eleva High School. She married Norman Berndt on April 27, 1946, in Eau Claire. She was a member of First Lutheran Church for over 65 years where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Love Circle. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Schramm of Inver Grove Heights, MN, five nephews, and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, three brothers: Carl, Selmer, and Edwin Omdahl, and sister Olga Van Rysbergen. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at First Lutheran Church Chapel, 1005 Oxford Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastor Debra Boynton officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at the church chapel. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
