Obituary

Thelma M. Erickson, 95, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Luther Hospital.She was born in Chippewa County, WI, on October 4, 1914, the daughter of George and Martina (Barstad) Christeson. \r\nThelma worked at Gillette Tire Company in Eau Claire prior to her marriage. She married Paul F. Erickson on September 30, 1939, in Eau Claire,WI.\r\nThey lived 15 years in Eau Claire, and then moved to the Town of Union where they farmed until retirement.\r\nThelma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a terrific cook and baker, and loved the gatherings with her family.\r\nShe had been an active member of First Lutheran Church serving her church in many ways, including women's groups, church circles and teaching Sunday school. Thelma was also a member of the Town of Union Helping Hand, and Homemakers.\r\nThelma is survived by her three children, Donald (Sue) Erickson of Eau Claire, David (Janice) Erickson of Sun City, AZ, and Diane Campbell of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Brian, Martina and Nolan Erickson all of Eau Claire, Brenda (Jack) Douthit of Broomfield, CO, Kim (Mark) Wogernese of Phoenix, AZ, Sandra Smith of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, and Cynthia (Matt) Wahl of Fort Belvoir, VA; twelve great grandchildren, Tianna, Devin, Mekaela and Jordon Erickson, John and Jarred Douthit, Dylan and Alyssa Wogernese, Nora, Kristen and Evan Smith, and Eric Wahl; her brother, Kenneth (Eleanor) Christeson of Rochester, MN; two sisters, Violet Freid and Arlene Petrick both of Eau Claire; three sisters-in-law, Marian (Eugene) Morse of Chippewa Falls, Jeanne Christeson and Shirley Christeson both of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul in1988; two brothers, George and Randall Christeson, her sister, Frances Gilbertson; four brothers-in-law, Harold Erickson, Gilman Gilbertson, John Petrick, and Lester Freid; and sister-in-law, Mildred Erickson.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave. Eau Claire with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving her family.
