Obituary

Thelma M. Phillips, age 88, of Eau Claire and formerly of 607 Bergen Ave. died Saturday, November 30, 2002 at her residence. She was born October 30, 1914 on her family farm near Osseo, Wisconsin, the daughter of Theodore and Ellen (Johnson) Hoff. She graduated from Lincoln Hill High School in Osseo and then Chippewa Valley Technical School in Eau Claire.\r\nThelma married Carl C. Phillips in Eau Claire on January 16, 1938.\r\nShe had worked at Luther Hospital, Presto Industries and as a preschool teacher until her retirement. Thelma was a life long member of Hope Lutheran Church where she had been an active member of the Friendship Circle, the Ruth Circle and was a third grade Sunday School teacher.\r\nShe is survived by her son, Ronald (Ruby) of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Kevin (Jean) of Eau Claire and Kimarie (Dan) Marsolek of Wausau; five great-grandchildren, Lori, Lindsey and Katelyn Phillips and Kaylea and Dannah Marsolek; two sisters, Esther Christianson of Strum and Irma Pederson of Osseo; a sister-in-law, Maxine Phillips of Boulder, CO; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1992; her parents; and her brother, Harold Hoffe.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2002 at Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Skatrud officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
