THOMAS "TOM" C. DEMPSEY, 67 of Spider Lake near Hayward, Wisconsin, died Sunday, January 7, 2001 at his home. He was born in Tracy, Minnesota on December 2, 1933 to Charles and Lynne (Skelton) Dempsey\r\nHe entered the United States Air Force in 1954 and served as a pilot until his honorable discharge in 1974. After Tom retired from the Air Force, he attended UW-Eau Claire, graduating with a bachelor's of education in 1977.\r\nTom married Lois Ann Hatzinger on September 15, 1956 in Waukesha, WI.\r\nTom enjoyed gardening, fly tying, history, jazz, photography and fishing. He especially enjoyed fishing with his brothers on Lake Michigan and with his father in the Rice Lake area. Tom liked to keep in touch with his military buddies on the computer and he always appreciated a good joke via e-mail. He made beautiful stained glass artwork, which he often gave as gifts to his family. We will miss his subtle humor, his love of football and of course his gourmet cooking. Tom was many things to many people: son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Tom will be missed by all, but never forgotten. \r\nSurvivors include his parents Charles and Lynne Dempsey of Rice Lake; wife, Lois; son, James of Eau Claire; three daughters, Patricia (Dan) Green of Cleghorn, Elizabeth (John) Anderson of Augusta, and Erin (Steve) Voller of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Kathy) Dempsey of Anoka,MN and John "Jack" (Jeanine) Dempsey of Green Bay; mother-in-law, Hilda Hatzinger of Waukesha; several nieces and nephews.\r\nFriends and relatives may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, Eau Claire. A private family service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, family request memorials are directed to the American Cancer Society, 2427 N. Hillcrest Pkwy.
