THOMAS C. JOHNSON, 42, of 501 N. Holly Ave., Elk Mound, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998 at Luther Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1955 in Estherville, Iowa, to Willis Q. and Norma G. (Nelson) Johnson. Tom graduated from Fall Creek High School with the class of 1973. He worked for his Dad's company from the age of 16 and completed his sheet metal apprenticeship in 1977. He assumed ownership of HVAC, Inc. in 1984. Tom married Diane L. Schultz on October 7, 1978, at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Together they spent 20 years living both in Eau Claire and Elk Mound. He was owner / president of Prime Mechanical, Inc. of Elk Mound and Eau Claire, and part owner of Mounds View Mini Mart in Elk Mound\r\nHe was past president of the Chippewa Valley Builders Exchange; a Council member at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound and a five year member of the Elk Mound Village Board. Tom was an avid canoeist and winter camper. He was involved in Junior Achievement and was a regular reader to students at Mound View Elementary School. He loved his children and coached their soccer, basketball, and little league baseball teams.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Diane; three children, Zachary, Megan, and Hannah all at home; his mother, Norma G. Johnson of Elk Mound; two sisters, Susan (Richard) L'esperance of Tampa, FL and Sally (David) Johnson of Elk Mound; a brother, Greg (Susan) Johnson of Eau Claire; 15 nieces and nephews; and a great niece and great nephew.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his father, Willis Q. Johnson; a brother, David Michael and a sister, Nancy Rault.\r\nTom gave of himself freely and will be missed by all who knew him.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound with Pastor Dean C. Brockmeier officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens in the town of Washington. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.\r\nThe family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be directed to Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church.
