Thomas B. Larson, 81, of Eau Claire, died on Monday, September 9, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Eau Claire. Tom was born in Eau Claire on January 4, 1932, to Olaf and Mabel (Burt) Larson. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the Class of 1950. While attending St. Olaf College, in Northfield, MN, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He served for two years before returning to St. Olaf College to earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry. Tom married Janice Christensen on April 14, 1962, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI. Tom worked at Midway Lumber & Fuel and Presto Industries. In 1978, Tom and his family, moved to Bettendorf, IA, for six years and then moved to Indianapolis, IN, for twelve years, where he worked as an accountant for the federal government. Tom retired and moved back to Eau Claire in 1996. Tom was a past master for Eau Claire Lodge #112. Tom enjoyed being outside, traveling, reading and watching ball games on TV. Tom is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Carrie Larson and Jennie (Joe) Ruter; grandchildren, Joey and Kristin Ruter; sisters, Sonja Rathbun and Ellie (David) Lindow; sisters-in-law, Mary LoCigno and Faylene Mueller; many nieces and nephews; a wonderful friend and cousin, Mannie Wold and his family. Tom will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Marilyn Bartholomew Larson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Michael Rehak and Pastor Lowell Halvorson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. The Larson family would like to extend a special thank you to the critical care unit at Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Eau Claire, for their compassionate caring for Tom during his illness.
