Obituary

THOMAS S. LENEHEN, 83, of 610 Gray St., died Friday, July 18, 1997 at M.B. Syverson Lutheran Home. He was born December 17, 1913 in Manhattan,NY to Thomas and Mabel (Stebbings) Lenehen. He grew up in Parkridge and Evanston,IL, and graduated from Northwestern University in 1935. \r\nThomas married Jane S. Kirkeby in Chicago on September 21, 1940. He was a sales representative for over 30 years with Chapman and Smith Wholesale Bakery in Chicago. Following his retirement in 1968, they moved to the New Auburn area to live on Pine Lake for 13 years and then to Eau Claire in 1984 when Jane became ill. \r\nSurvivors include a daughter, Linda Williams of Eau Claire; a son, Thomas K. (Elinor) of Los Angeles,CA; four grandchildren, Dennis and Arwen of Eau Claire, Alex and Lindsay of Los Angeles,CA; a sister, Helen Van Kirk of Honolulu,HI; a nephew, William Van Kirk of Chicago,IL.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Jane in 1986 and his parents.\r\nThomas had a strong sense of responsibility for his family and was very proud of his family heritage for its determination and accomplishments. He was appreciative for the opportunities he had to travel throughout the world. He had been an active hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed studying birds and plants so he and Jane could observe them on their hikes at Pine Lake.\r\nFuneral Services will be a 2 p.m. Wednesday in Meta Trebus Memorial Chapel at M.B. Syverson Lutheran Home with Pastor Gene E. Wickman officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Wednesday at M.B. Syverson Lutheran Home. Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home is serving the family.\r\n
