Thorbjorn "Thor" Evensen, 70, formerly of 4222 Harless Road died Friday, January 12, 1996 at Wissota Lakeside in Chippewa Falls.\r\nThor was born January 3, 1926 to Nils and Signe Evensen in Lena, Norway. \r\nDuring World War II he fled to Sweden to join the free Norwegian forces. He fought in Finland and Denmark against the German forces. He immigrated to USA and settled in Eau Claire in 1956.\r\nThor worked in car sales at Bothun Automotive, Link Ford and owned Thor's Auto Sales in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.\r\nHe was an avid sportsman who participated in the Boston Marathon and many Birkebeiner and Eau Claire Ski Strider Cross Country ski racing events. \r\nThor is survived by a daughter, Sandy (Michael) Zais of Lakeland,FL; four stepsons, Ralph (Mary) Wendt of Ogden,UT, Dave (Julie) Wendt of Milwaukee, Bill (Sonja) Wendt of Wesminster,CO, and Mike (Christine) Wendt of Lexington,SC; a step-daughter, Linda ( Jan) Pyzik of Mahtomedi,MN; three brothers, Sigurd(Birgit) of New City,NY, Hans and Nils of Norway; six sisters, Eva, Nora, Synnove, Aase, Helga and Ruth all of Norway.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be at 2 P.M. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Pastor Kurt M. Jacobson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Lena,Norway. \r\nFriends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home
