Obituary

TURON "JUNIOR" HARPER, 70, of 1105 So. Barstow St., died Monday, August 21, 2000 at the Barron Medical Center in Barron, WI. Turon became ill while on his favorite fishing trip to Canada. He was born July 17, 1930 in Eau Claire to Turon and Ethel (Sisco) Harper. Turon served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 and was especially proud that he rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class. He worked at Bonnie Brae Dairy, Presto Industries and in later years was a carpenter with construction. Turon was a Past Commander and Life Member of the VFW Post # 7232.\r\nHe is survived by his children, Ronald, Ranita Simnick of Louisiana, Troy and Turon both of Madison; five sisters, Ellen (Roy) Tompkins of Protem, MO, Dorothy (Clarence) Rasmussen of Gentrilia, IL, Rosena Herrick of Chippewa Falls, Ethel Harper of Beloit, Clara (Nathan) Hegg of Denver, CO; and a brother Jimmie (Barbara) Harper of Chippewa Falls; many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents. \r\nTuron enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially attending horse pulling contests.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Salvation Army Chapel, 102 W. Grand Ave., with Captain Scott Spicer officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Friday at the Chapel.
