V. Jane Lehrer, of 1405 Truax Blvd., Eau Claire, died Friday, September 14, 2001 at Dove Health Care. She was born July 29, 1917 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Joseph and Casimira (Budkiewicz) Wales. Her mother died when she was nine months old in the flu epidemic; then she was raised by an aunt and uncle, Adam and Kate Yewczyk.\r\nJane married John W. Lehrer on April 25, 1939, at Jesu Church in Milwaukee. She owned and operated a gift shop in Cudahy, WI, before following her husband to New Mexico during WWII. Jane had been a society reporter for the Chippewa Herald-Telegram for many years, and later was employed at K-Mart as a security guard until her retirement. \r\nSurvivors include her daughter, Jo (Henry) Wildenberg of Eau Claire; son, John "Mike" (Sandy) Lehrer of Bloomer; son-in-law, James Lane of Bloomer; a sister, Bernice Walch of Worcester, MA; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Mark) Baier, Peter (Paula) Wildenberg, Penny (Garry Cripe) Nicol, Roberta (Tony) Potter, Jeannine (Robert) Raycher, John (Marlene) Lane and Samantha Lehrer; great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Leah and Ally Nicol, Jim and Jana Raycher, Cory and Troy Baier, Alex and Amy Lane, and T.J. Potter who made her laugh.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, John, a daughter, Janin Lane; three brothers, Ed, John and Ben; four sisters, Valerie Falk, Anna Gagner, Jo Casavant, and Helen Lojander.\r\nFuneral services will be held be 11 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2001 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Janusz Kowalski officiating. Burial will be in North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.
