Valerie Rose Cook, 37, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Sacred Heart Hospital after a 2 year battle with cancer. She was born on February 8, 1966 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Raleigh and Shirley (Wagner) Cook.\r\nShe graduated from Memorial High School and received an Associate Degree in Hotel&Restaurant Cookery and also in Child Care from Chippewa Valley Technical College. She worked at Hutchinson Technology before her diagnosis of cancer.\r\nSurvivors include her parents; her sister, Vicki Cook (John Pavick); an aunt, Bernice (Orlin) Larson all of Eau Claire; an uncle, Donald Wagner of Neillsville; and her cat Boots. \r\nValerie was preceded in death by her grandparents and other relatives.\r\nValerie loved life and getting to know people. She noticed the beauty of nature and everything around her. She enjoyed crafts and creating things with her hands. She always saw the positive traits in people and life. She was a gentle, kind spirit.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2003 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
