Valerie M. Davidson, 97, died Saturday, February 16, 2002 at Dove Healthcare in Eau Claire. She was born in Eau Claire on May 31, 1904 to Paul and Mary (Kumferman) Bernicke. Valerie married Jul A. Davidson in May of 1925 in Eau Claire, where they lived and raised their family. Valerie loved to cook and bake for her family. You could always see her in her garden during the summer months, she enjoyed raising African violets to share with family and friends.\r\nShe was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Chippewa Valley Rock and Mineral Club. \r\nSurvivors include two sons, Willard "Bill" (Alva) Davidson of Eau Claire and James (Marion) Davidson of Santa Claus, Ind.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Burnett and Harry (Enva) Bernicke of Eau Claire, and Paul (Phyllis) Bernicke of Portage; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Jul in 1953; a granddaughter, Vicki Davidson; great grandson, Matthew Schlensker; a brother Ralph Bernicke; and four sisters, Ferol Jaquish, Fern Barrington, Delores Henning and Bernice Dahl.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
