Vane "Stan" Hays, 91, of Eau Claire, died Monday, August 08, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Eau Claire. He was born in Eleva, WI, on October 22, 1924, a son to Milo and Tillie (Aasen) Hays. Stan served with the Navy during World War II and spent time in the South Pacific. He married Donna Harms on September 14, 1957, and they raised four children together. Stan worked at Arnstad-Koenig as a concrete finisher before moving on to a maintenance position at UWEC. Stan enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, snowmobiling, dancing, and family get togethers. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna L. Hays; his four children, Jim (Marcy) Hays, Cindy (Darrell) Nelson, Tom Hays, Dan (Jenny) Hays; brother, Milo "Vernie" Hays; grandchildren, Michael (Sydney) Hays, Jessica Hays, Rachael Nelson, Naomi (Kyle) Sands, Bethany (Daniel) Gant, Nathan (Nicole) Nelson, Isaac Hays, Levi Hays, Elise Hays; and great-grandchildren, Holt Hays, Emmaline Sands, and Isaiah Gant. Stan is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Macie, Clarence, Minor, Audian "Bunky", Verner "Gabby", Vilas "Bide"; sister, Lila; and half-sister, Vivian Soley. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 601 Fall St, Eau Claire, with Rev. Dr. Timothy J. Heupel officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 North Clairemont Avenue, Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to services at the church. Burial and Military Honors will be at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Township of Menomonie, WI.
