Obituary

Velma V. (Urness) Rosman, 90, of Eau Claire died Monday, November 22, 2004, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona. She was born on January 28, 1914, in Thompson Valley, near Mondovi, the daughter of Peter and Paulina (Halverson) Urness. After the death of her parents, she was raised by her grandparents, Chris and Carrie Halverson. They moved to Alma, where Chris was the Buffalo County Sheriff. \r\nVelma married Wayne L. Rosman in Eleva, where they farmed. In 1941, Wayne and Velma bought a farm in German Valley, near Mondovi, where they resided until November 1961. They then moved to Eau Claire, where she worked at American National Bank on Grand Avenue.\r\nShe was a member of Grace Lutheran Church\r\nVelma enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidering, and being a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family, relatives, and friends. She was noted for wearing her fancy hats.\r\nSurvivors include her son, LeRoy (Lorraine) Rosman; two daughters, Rosalie Rosman and Geraldine "Gerri" (Ken) Schulner all of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Rev. Roger) Gallup of River Grove, IL, Kathleen (Wayne) Dean, and Stephanie (Michael) Johnson, both of Eau Claire; nine great-grandchildren, Robert, Lydia, Hannah, and Andrew Gallup all of River Grove, IL, Nicole and Nathan Dean, Jessica Rosman, Michaela, and William Johnson, all of Eau Claire; three sisters, Eleanor Crasper of Mondovi, Pauline Nelson of Eau Claire, and Arvilla (Gaylord) Hermann of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; four sisters including her twin sister, Vivian Blodgett, Bernice Robinson, Mildred Mengelt, and Palma Spangle; and brother, Raymond Urness.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\nDue to severe allergies in the family, in lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated.\r\nVelma's family wants to thank all of the CNA's and Sister Mary Jane for all of the loving care they gave to our mother during her stay at Oakwood Villa.\r\nMom was a very kind and loving person. Her beautiful smile would light a room. She will be missed very much.\r\nWe love you Mom.
