Vern Skoug, 88, of Eau Claire, went home to the Lord on February 20, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System. He was born on October 21, 1925, to Hilda (Semingson) and Oscar Skoug. He was a very kind and loving man. He always had a smile. Vern was a Navy veteran in WWII serving as radioman aboard the USS Kenton in the Pacific. He worked in construction through Union #1074. He loved golfing, volunteering and winters in Florida. Vern married Lois Rasmussen at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on September 10, 1950. They had one son, Larry. He married Kathy Dooley and they had 3 children, Tracie, Michael, and Nicholas. Vern is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois; son, Larry (Kathy); grandchildren, Tracie, Michael, and Nicholas; 2 great-granddaughters, Leilah and Tayvin; brother, Raymond; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry (Shirley) Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and Oscar; brothers, Roger (Evi), and Eugene (Dorothy); and sisters, Marcella Peterson and Muriel (Lavern) Crapser. Funeral Service will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastors Amy Odgren and Lowell Halvorson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date. The family would like to thank Mayo Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care.
