Verna Marie Neilson, 95, Eau Claire, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.\r\nShe was born in Colfax, WI on September 27, 1911, the daughter of Hans and Anna (Schoeneki) Hanson.\r\nShe married David Neilson on July 14, 1933. They had one son, Verlyn "Jack" Neilson. They lived and worked in Milwaukee for most of their married years. After retirement they returned to the Eau Claire area.\r\nVerna enjoyed entertaining and always had coffee and treats ready for all her visitors. She liked to do crossword puzzles and watch the news on television. She loved all animals, especially dogs and horses.\r\nVerna is survived by two grandchildren, Barbara (Ron) Baker of Ocala, FL and Bruce (Cheri) Neilson of Milwaukee, WI; five great-grandchildren, Angie Thomas, Douglas Neilson, and Thomas Neilson all of Milwaukee, and Brenda Anderson of Mukwonago, WI and Brian Walter of Menomonee Falls, WI; six great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Hilmen (Celia) Hanson of Eau Claire; nephew, Steve Hanson of Chippewa Falls; niece, Carolyn (Gary) Salter of Eau Claire; and two great nieces, Michelle (Darrin) Felkey of Temperence, MI and Kelly (Dan) Harnisch of Menomonie.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David in 1986; a son, Verlyn Neilson; and grandson, Jerry Neilson.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007, at Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Randy Olson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral&Cremation Services is serving her family.
