Verna A. Sather, age 86 of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. Verna was born in Woodville, WI, to Vernon and Alice (Mathison) Delander, on February 19, 1927. She graduated from Woodville high school in 1944. Verna married Roy Sather on October 20, 1945. In order for Verna to be a stay-at-home mom, she took in sewing. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting; knitting over a thousand newborn hats for the local hospitals. She also enjoyed playing cards and sewing at the senior center. Most of all, Verna took great pride at being a great mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. Verna is survived by her children, Judith (David) Jacobs, David (Deborah) Sather, Nancy (James) Schemensky all of Eau Claire, and Richard (dear friend, Heather) Sather of Duluth, MN; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Allen (Barbara) Delander; and her sister, Sharon Wynveen both of Woodville, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; daughter-in-law, Karen Sather; brother, Harley (Jane) Delander; and brother-in-law, John Wynveen. Visitation will be (TODAY) Monday, April 22, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar Street, Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor Jim Page will be officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, town of Washington.
