Vernon Erling Hoff, 93, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Dove Healthcare South in Eau Claire. He was born in the town of Hale, Trempeleau County, WI, on July 20, 1921, the son of Fred and Amanda (Berge) Hoff. Vernon graduated from the Huskelhus School at the age of 13. From then on he did all the field work on the farm. He loved horses, hunting, fishing, especially with this granddaughter, Chrissa, trapping and anything outdoors. He was a life-long Cubs fan. Vernon went to work for W.A. Standen Sheet Metal Works in 1942. He bought the company in 1945, and named it V.E. Hoff Sheet Metal-Heating. He was a self-taught pattern maker and draftsman. He retired in 2002 after 60 years in the trade. He married Elsie L. Nelson in Osseo on June 16, 1943. The last years they lived on Altoona Lake, where they considered their home to be a paradise of beautiful lawn, flowers, and hostas. Vernon is survived by his son, Reider (Leni) Hoff of Brookfield, WI; daughter, Virginia (Donald) Roszak of Brookfield, WI; grandchildren, Kurt (Lynn) Hoff of Germantown, WI, Kristopher (Nicole) Hoff of West Bend, WI, Chrissa (Kevin) Nordquist of Seattle, WA, and Jonathan (Suzanne) Roszak of Irvine, CA; four step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Elsie; parents; brother, Fred (Evelyn); sisters, Joyce (Marshall) Osborne and Beatrice (Sylvester) Olson. Funeral Service will be at 11AM on Friday, February 13, 2015, at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3715 London Rd. Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor Aaron Hamilton will be officiating. Interment will be in Pigeon Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Pigeon Falls, WI.
