Vicky L. (Martenson) Parenteau, 57, of Eau Claire, died on Friday, May 18, 2012 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 6, 1954 in Mondovi, WI to William and Marjorie Martenson. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1972. On January 4, 1978 she married Mike Parenteau. She was Director/Owner of Forever Young Daycare in Eau Claire for 30 years. Throughout the years she provided daycare to hundreds of children which she referred to as "her babies". In "her babies" adult lives she kept in touch by attending their weddings and their children's birthdays and school events. She taught her children that if you treat someone with kindness and love, they will return the kindness. Her goal to teach her children was to have goals in life, try and make good decisions, and if you do your best-you're a winner. She always thought of others before she thought of herself. Vicky enjoyed going to greenhouses and gardening in her various flower gardens at her home. In the morning she often greeted them saying a loving "Good Morning" to start her day. She enjoyed many summers at her camper on Cornell Lake relaxing and socializing with anyone who happened to stop by to chat. Her other interests were cooking for family gatherings, playing cards and bingo, an occasional visit to the casino, and her love for music. Vicky is survived by her husband of 34 years, Mike; father, William Martenson; brothers, Mike, Dan (Anne), and Bruce (Linda) Martenson; sister, Marcia (Tim) Bandoli; nephews, Chad (Lindsey), Andrew, and Mitchell Martenson; nieces, Michelle and Melissa Martenson; great-niece, Mya; and great-nephew, Nathan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie; and mother-in-law, Ruth Parenteau. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. Eau Claire. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Pastor Al Millen will officiate. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to those who provided care to Vicky during her illness.
