Victor A. Fischer, 74, formerly of Early Dr., Hallie, died Saturday, February 15, 1997 at his home in Holcombe. He was born September 1, 1922 in Minneapolis,Kansas to George and Edna (Leach) Fischer. Victor moved with his family to Weywega,WI., where he grew up. He served in the European Theater during WW II with the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1945. Victor married Jean Giles in Eau Claire on September 2, 1967. He worked at the Eau Claire U.S. Post Office until his retirement in 1969. Victor and Jean moved to Holcombe in 1980. Since 1956, he had lived on the Chippewa River, first at Hallie and then Holcombe. As a result his family has many memories of their outings fishing, boating and snowmobiling together on the river throughout out the years. He was a member of the VFW Post #305, the DAV and the Flambeau Trail Tenders. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Jean; a son, Wayne (Patti) of Spooner; three daughters, Melody "Jo" (Gerald) Erickson of Sheridan,WY, Cheryl James and Sandy (Ron) Mahder both of Eau Claire; nine grandchildren, Rick and Bill Erickson, Brandon, Suzanne and Melanie Fischer, Jesse and Lisa James, Tina (Ryan) Goulet and Cory Mahder; a great grandson, Bailey Hawke James; a brother, Roger "Bud" of Bullshores,AR; a sister, Wilma Coss of Brooksville,FL; special friends and neighbors, Patti and Dave Thatcher of Holcombe: and his faithful dog, King. \r\nVictor was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Merle Gill.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Tuesday. VFW Post #305 will have a 6:30 P.M. prayer service Monday at the funeral home.
