Victor M. Grosvold, 74, of Eau Claire, died peacefully Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at his home after a courageous 4-year battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer. He was born March 3, 1929 in Eau Claire, the son of Victor R. and Mary (Rombach) Grosvold.\r\nVictor married Miriam (Hunt) Robertson in 1949. They had five children. He married Betty (Mai) DeMoe in 1984. \r\nHe worked as a tire builder and supervisor for Uniroyal Tire Company from 1949 until his retirement in 1991.\r\nHe was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Eau Claire and Holy Cross Parish in Cornell. He was a very active member in the Knights of Columbus - John F. Kennedy Council #1257. He served in many capacities including several terms as Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Bishop Fulton J. Sheen General Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus serving as the Faithful Navigator and other offices. He particularly enjoyed hosting the annual K of C picnic at his cottage.\r\nVic immensely enjoyed his time spent with family and friends at his cottage on Lake Holcombe. He was especially fond of the family's Christmas and 4th of July celebrations. He loved fireworks and pontooning! \r\nHe was an avid trap shooter at the Eau Claire Rod&Gun Club and for many years he enjoyed snowmobiling with the Flambeau Area Trail Tenders.\r\nVic was particularly proud of his collection of pins representing the total of 14.5 gallons of blood he donated to the American Red Cross.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Betty; his children, Michael (Jane) of Holcombe, Janet (Dave) Oliver of Eau Claire, Jeffry (Kathy) of Eau Claire, Mary (Chuck) Hommen of Decorah, IA; his son-in-law, Don Imm; his step-children, Steve, Mark, and Craig DeMoe, and Vicki Mendoza; a brother, Phillip (Pat) of Chippewa Falls. Vic was most proud of his extended family, which includes 24 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a grandson and great grandson expected soon.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; his daughter, Karen Grosvold Imm and his grandson, Matthew Grosvold Schwoch.\r\nVic was so appreciative of the kind and loving care he received from the nurses at the dialysis centers, oncology and pain clinics at Luther Hospital. His family would also like to thank Drs. Maierhofer, Woodhouse and Schlimgen for the care they gave him. Special and personal thanks to Sister Catherine Manning, her visits and spiritual guidance meant so much to Vic.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William Dhein officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. A Public Prayer Vigil along with the Knights of Columbus will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
