Obituary

Victor W. Robertson, 90, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 29, 2017. Victor was born August 25, 1927, in Eau Claire, to Catherine and Victor T. Robertson Sr. Victor graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic High School after proudly serving in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Pennsylvania. He later married the love of his life, Janice Mae Ruff, on September 18, 1948, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Eau Claire. Victor worked at NSP, Uniroyal, then at Sherman and Roshell Electric as an electrician. He was a proud member of IBEW Local Union 953. Victor's faith, family and his friends were very important to him. He was a charter member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church and has been in the Knights of Columbus, John F. Kennedy Council #1257 for 64 years. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandpa, as well as a brother and uncle to many. The cabin he built was a big part of his life, a place where friends and family would often come to visit. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, ski jumping in his teens, bowling, playing cribbage, making maple syrup and spending time at the cabin. Victor is survived by two daughters, Anne (Kevin) Flahive and Cheri (Tim) Leith; son, Mike (Caroline) Robertson; ten grandchildren, Patrick (Kari) Robertson, Joe (Michelle) Robertson, Lindsy (Roy) Ewoldt, Courtney (Mike) Cyrtmus, Molly (Michael) Mathson, Matthew (Taylor) Flahive, Meghan (Brian) Buckman, MacKenzie (Scott) Swanson, Nicole (Joe) Manny, David (Meg) Robertson; seven great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Robertson; sister, Mary Alice Maloney; cousin, Mary Margaret McManus; "adopted" son, Carlos Soteldo; two sisters-in-law, Thelma (Jerry) Schilling and Carol (Bruce) Britten; brother-in-law, Irvin Ruff; numerous nieces and nephews; and special companion and loving friend, Florence Eberhardt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Robertson; son, Jim Robertson; and brother, Daniel Robertson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Victor at 12:00 PM, Noon, on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at St James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St. in Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass on Tuesday, at the church. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Eau Claire. A memorial service will also be held in Weston, Wisconsin, at the Chapel at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Never Forgotten Honor Flight, 4404 Rib Mountain Drive #234, Wausau, Wisconsin 54401. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff of Tender Reflections Weston and to Interim Health Care for their compassionate care for Victor and his family.
