Victoria G. Walby, 87, of 610 Gray St., Eau Claire, died Sunday, March 3, 2002 at The Clairemont. She was born September 27, 1914 in Gibbon, Minnesota, to August and Agnes (Peterson) Malm. In March of 1915, Agnes passed away and from that point, Victoria was raised by her godparents, Carl and Ella Wahlstrom. The Wahlstrom family soon moved to the Clear Lake, Wis. area where Victoria spent most of her life. She graduated from Clayton High School.\r\nOn June 12, 1936, Victoria married Louis C. Walby in Clear Lake, Wis. She was wife and mother on their family farm. In later years she took employment as a food service worker with the Amery School District until her retirement in 1981.\r\nShe moved to Amery and lived there until 1991 when she moved to Eau Claire.Victoria was a member of East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery where she gave many years of devoted service in various capacities, and later at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire where she took part in several women's activities.\r\nVictoria is survived by her son, Norman (Shirley) Walby of Woodbury, Minn.; daughter, Joyce (David) Linderholm of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Kevin (Christy) Post of Eagan, Minn., Scott (Andrea) Walby of Eau Claire, Jeff (Laura) Post of Lakeville, Minn., Annette Walby and friend, Amy Worthingham of Sacramento, Calif., Peter and Amy Linderholm of Eau Claire; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Rachel Walby and Matt and Josh Post; a sister-in-law, Marian Wahlstrom of Chisago City, Minn.; nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Louis in 1977; her parents; August and Agnes Malm and Carl and Ella Wahlstrom; four sisters, Hannah Hayne, Iona Lillegaard, Ordella Gitter and Dorothy Wahlstrom; two brothers, Eugene Malm and Freedolph Wahlstrom.\r\nShe was a devoted mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by the family she so dearly loved.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in East Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, in Alden Township, rural Amery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\nThe family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
