VIENNA MARIE SAVELA, 82, of Mass City,Michigan, died Wednesday, December 3, 1997 at her granddaughter's home in Eau Claire,Wisconsin. She was born May 16, 1915 in Mullan,Idaho to John and Mary (Kaataja) Wayrynen. As a young girl, Vienna moved with her family to Mass City where she grew up and attended school. She married Eino Savela in Mass City in 1964. Vienna was a cook at Mass-Greenland Elementary School,Mass City for over twenty years, retiring in 1980.\r\nSurvivors include her children, Ken (Bonnie) Korttila of Leonard,MI, Carole (Steve) Pence of Marquette,MI, Jerry (Ann) Savela of Phoenix,AZ, John (Jean) Savela of Caledonia,MI, Donald (Judy) Savela of Livonia,MI and Shirley Kugler of Bruce Crossing,MI; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Wayrynen of Mass City; a sister, Sylvia Barney of Trout Creek,MI; and many nieces and nephews. \r\nVienna was preceded in death by her husband, Eino in 1987; a daughter, Judith McKay; her parents; four brothers, Otto, Eino, John and Roy Wayrynen; and a sister, Aileen Tauriainen.\r\nMemorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 18th, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City with Pastor Michael Laakko officiating. Burial will be in Maplegrove Cemetery, Greenland,MI. Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home, Eau Claire is assisting the family.
