Obituary

Viola M. Anderson, 92, of Eau Claire died Monday, March 18, 2002, at the Syverson Lutheran Home. She was born on September 24, 1909 to Charles and Sophia (Follstad) Anderson in Elcho, Wisconsin.\r\nViola graduated from Amery High School and then received her nurses training at Luther Hospital. She worked in the polio unit at Sister Kinney Foundation in Minneapolis.\r\nDuring World War II she joined the Army Nurses Corps and was stationed on the Blanche F. Sigman hospital ship in the European Theatre. \r\nAfter her discharge from the Army, Viola moved to Eau Claire where she was a nurse at Luther Hospital, and was a private duty nurse in Menomonie and Eau Claire prior to retirement.\r\nSurvivors include two brothers, John Anderson of Eden Prairie, MN and Carl Anderson of Eau Claire; three sisters, Solveig, Ella and Mildred Anderson, all of Hopkins, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Ruth Hill and Lilah Anderson.\r\nHer family wishes to thank all the staff at Syverson Lutheran Home who took such good care of Viola, and were so kind to her.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2002 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen and Pastor Andrew Boe officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.\r\nThe family requests that memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.
