Viola L. Barrett, 98, of Eau Claire, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She was born January 2, 1915 to Paul and Mary (Martinson) Ming in Eau Claire. Viola married Lawrence R. Barrett on December 23, 1933, in Eau Claire. They were residents of Tucson, AZ for twenty-eight years, where she was employed by Tucson Unified School District. Viola was a long time member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Mary Martha Circle. Her light-hearted humor and wit will always be remembered and missed by many. Viola is survived by her 2 nephews, Vern (Diane) Ming of Fall Creek, and David (Joyce) Ming of Indiana; 2 nieces, Judith Ming of Cincinnati, OH, and Mrs. Roy Ming – Judy of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Regina "Jean" Ming of Cincinnati, OH, goddaughter, Joanie Gurney; and several great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1987; her parents; and 2 brothers, Walter and Raymond Ming. Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2013, at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3715 London Rd. in Eau Claire with Rev. Aaron Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving her family. Thank you to all the staff at Grace Willow Brook and Syverson Lutheran Home for their excellent care.
