Viola H. Vomhof, 100, of Eau Claire, died Monday, December 6, 2010, at Gundersen-Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse.\r\nViola was born in Augusta, WI on July 2, 1910, to Herman and Sophia (Watenphul) Louis.\r\nViola married Reverend Milton Vomhof, of Grant, Nebraska on June 4, 1936, in Goehner, Nebraska.\r\nViola graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in education. She taught at various schools in several cities including Colome, SD, Gibbon, MN, Utica, NE, Lester Prairie, MN and Aurora, IL. She was a Housemother at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. Viola was also one of the founding teachers of the Epiphany Lutheran School in Eau Claire, where she worked for many years. She also taught at Elk Mound Elementary School in Elk Mound, WI as a Special Education teacher before her retirement. \r\nViola is survived by her daughter, Lois Jenson of Onalaska; her son, Dan (Marion) Vomhof of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews and numerous friends. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Earl and twin brother, Victor; a sister, Dorothea Ernst; and a son-in-law Rodell Jenson. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 3031 Epiphany Lane in Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Russell Kampfer and Pastor Fred Sauder officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Interment will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta, WI. \r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed to Eau Claire Lutheran School or Epiphany Lutheran Church, 3031 Epiphany Lane, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
