Violet M. Hovde, 84 of 2305 14th St., died Monday, March 18, 1996 at The Clairemont.\r\nShe was born in Eveleth, Minnesota on July 18, 1911 to Barney and Bessie (Duerkop) Smith. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1927.\r\nViolet married Lawrence T. Hovde in Eau Claire on August 24, 1929.\r\nShe was a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, and was active in it's Ladie's Circles.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Lawrence; two sons, Lawrence G. (Kathy) Hovde of South Milwaukee, and Donald (Julie) Hovde of Colorado Springs, CO; four daughters, Mina Lou (James) Witt, Oconomowoc, Vi (Bob) Weggen of Eau Claire, Alice (Phil) Anibas of Mondovi and Dorothy (Jerry) Anibas of Eau Claire; seventeen grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gordon; six sisters, Lorraine, Hazel, Vivian, Adele, Harriet, and Bonnie; and two grandsons, Mike Hovde and Timothy Witt.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastors John E. Hosmann and Cynthia A. Crane officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at thechurch..
