Obituary

Virginia J. Anklam, 90, of Eau Claire, WI, was born into eternal life Monday, July 31, 2017, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. Virginia was born on April 11, 1927, in Eau Claire, to Julius and Amanda (Marquarf) Miller. She went to a one room schoolhouse, skipping kindergarten and graduating from Eau Claire High School with the Class of 1945. Virginia married George F. Anklam, the lover of her life, on June 22, 1946. They were blessed with 55 wonderful years together. Virginia enjoyed a variety of jobs in her life. Her first job was working for Eau Claire High School, training students in the cafeteria. Several years later, she was employed at Luther Hospital working in the nursery. When the family moved to Milwaukee, Virginia began working at St. Francis Hospital caring for cancer patients. After moving back to Eau Claire in 1966, Virginia began working again at Luther Hospital in surgery. She was active in the local MIA-POW organization and served as President for the local Chapter of Association of Surgical Technologists for many years while working. She was also very active in the local Moose Club. Virginia lived a full life at 90 years of age. She was witty, frank and had a great sense of humor. People often compared her to Betty White (she also looked a little like her too). She always put others before herself. Virginia was a very caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be missed dearly. Virginia is survived by her children, Galen (Shirley) Anklam of Racine, WI, Cynthia Cramer of Chippewa Falls, WI, Sonia (Wade) Ostrander of Eau Claire, and Gary (Mary) Anklam of Eau Claire; fourteen grandchildren, Julie (Brian) Lopez of Racine, WI, David (Kristen) Kratt of Chicago, IL, Laura (Daniel) Johnson of Denver, CO, Ryan (Sherry) Anklam of San Jose, CA, Jaime (Cory) Ross of Eau Claire, Kelly Cramer (fiance' Steven Wurzer) of Eau Claire, Lindsay Cook of Eau Claire, Daniel Ostrander of Ames, IA, Amanda (Mike) Sandlin of Rice Lake, WI, Courtney Anklam of Prairie Farm, WI, Tony Brauureiter of Eau Claire, Oliver (finacee' Page Newhouse) Anklam of Spooner, WI, Autumn Anklam of Eau Claire, Elliott (husband, Kevin Boulware) Rankin of St. Paul, MN; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
