Obituary

Virginia L. "Jean" Dittner, 80, of Eau Claire died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Dove Healthcare in Eau Claire. She was born in Eau Claire on October 14, 1928, a daughter of John and Amanda (Olson) Johnson. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1947. \r\nJean married Maynard "Ditt" L. Dittner on September 25, 1948 at Drammen Lutheran Church in the Town of Drammen.\r\nJean and Maynard enjoyed many years of fishing together up at the lake. She enjoyed getting together with family and friends, playing cards and baking cookies.\r\nJean retired from Eau Claire County after 27 years of service.\r\nShe was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Eau Claire.\r\nJean is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Sharon) and David (Amy) Dittner both of Eau Claire; three daughters, Sandra (Daniel) Johnson, of Altoona, Cynthia (Larry) Jaspers of Fall Creek, and Sherri (Rick) Johnson of Eau Claire; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Austin) Tschernach of Eau Claire, Jason (Christina) Grossklaus of Holmen, Matthew (Laura) Johnson, Amanda (Dylan) Tschernach, Hannah and Sadie Dittner all of Eau Claire, Laura (Jeremy) Hatleli of Altoona, Ben Dittner, Jessica Jenson and Kyra (Rusty) Dilley all of Eau Claire; her sister, Evelyn Stillman of Zephyr Hills, FL; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maynard in 1997; a daughter, Judy Grossklaus, four brothers, Harold, Norman, J. Allen, and infant baby Johnson; and two sisters, Mildred Jensen and Ruth Walker.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Rev. Ned Lenhart officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
