Virginia "Doll" M. Gort was called to her heavenly home, Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003. She was born November 11, 1916 in Eau Claire, WI to Harold and Emma (Bonus) Soley. Virginia married Robert B. Gort on May 29, 1937, celebrating over 42 years of marriage.\r\nVirginia lives on through her four loving daughters, Judy George of Aurora, IL, Mary (David) Glassbrenner of Eau Claire, Barbara Gort of Menomonie, Monica (Fritz) Richardson of Waukegan, and one foster daughter, Rochelle Feil of Milwaukee; two brothers, Everett of Eau Claire and Chet of Sun City West, AZ; and countless friends. \r\nVirginia's spirit will continue on through her five beautiful grandchildren, Dawn Glassbrenner of Eau Claire, Mike (Vicki) Glassbrenner of Eau Claire, Peter (Jenny) Glassbrenner of Richfield, MN, Steve Glassbrenner of Edina, MN, and Jenifer (Jacob) Conklin of North Aurora, IL. Great-grandma will continue to live in the lives of her four great-grandchildren, Ali, Craig, Mollie, and Lauren. She truly was a gift from God and will now be our guardian angel.\r\nAs Virginia walked through the gates of her eternal home, her husband, parents, three brothers Ern, Harold, and Jim Soley, and many friends anxiously welcomed her, especially her close friend Rosemary Ryan.\r\nThere is a poem that speaks about the importance of how we "live the dash," between the year we are born and the year we die. Virginia had a very rich "dash!" Her baking, from wedding cakes to Christmas and Easter cookies, was enjoyed by many. The times spent with her family were her greatest joy. She also enjoyed card club, church bingo, traveling, dining out, countless hours of embroidering, and never letting a special day go by without sending a card.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Sacred Heart Church with Father William A. Dhein and Father Edmund Klimek officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. There will be a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
