VIRGINIA E. KAYSER, 85, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at Luther Hospital. She was born on December 14, 1915 to Joseph and Mary (Lamb) Herrick in Brandon, IA. \r\nVirginia grew up in Independence, IA. She received her Associate Degree from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, IA, and in 1941, earned her Bachelors' Degree in Home Economics Education from Iowa State College in Ames, IA. She taught school in Iowa prior to her marriage to Vincent N. Kayser on December 26, 1945 in Independence. \r\nVirginia and Vincent moved to Eau Claire in 1945, where they raised their family. She worked as a social worker for the Eau Claire County Department of Human Services from 1966 until her retirement in 1977.\r\nShe was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and took part in numerous volunteer activities.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Vincent; their daughter Susan and her husband, Sal Polisi of Merrick, NY; their son, David and his wife, Sheila Cooke-Kayser of Danvers, MA.; her sister, Dolores (Richard) Lippert of Rockford, IL; two brothers, Robert (Helen) Herrick of Independence, IA and John (Joan) Herrick of Paradise Valley, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Herrick, Jr. \r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2001 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Father Janusz Kowalski officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 7 p.m.Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church. There will be a public prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. \r\nMemorials can be directed to St. Patrick's Parish Endowment Trust, Saint Bede Monastery, or the charity of the donor's choice.
