VIVIAN M. NELSON, 90, formerly of 335 Hudson St., died Saturday, January 17, 1998 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona. She was born September 17, 1907 in Red Wing,MN, to Charles J. and Anna (Holmer) Erickson. She grew up there, graduating from Red Wing High School. \r\nVivian received her B.A. in Education at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter,MN, in 1929, and her Masters in Church Music at McPhail School of Music in St.Paul,MN. She taught music in the public schools at Marshall,MN, Davenport,IA, and St.Paul,MN. \r\nVivian married Dr. Axel L. Nelson in St. Paul,MN, on April 1, 1950 and she then moved to Eau Claire where Axel was a resident and had his dental practice. \r\nShe was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, active in its women's groups and church choir director for 18 years until 1972. She was a former president of the Eau Claire Women's Club and director of its choir, and an active member of the Eau Claire Civic Music Assoc. \r\nSurvivors include a daughter, Virginia (Raymond) Anderson of Janesville; a grandson, Joel Anderson of Menomonee Falls,WI; a granddaughter, Abbey (Michael) McDermott of Burlington,CT; many nieces and nephews including Janet Brown and Arlene Faris both of Maine, Jon Pierson of New York City,NY, and Stuart Turille of Lynchburg,VA, \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Axel in 1987; and two sisters, Lenore Pierson and Caryl Turille.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor David K. Anderson officiating.
