W. "Frank" Soppeland, 97 of Eau Claire died Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Lodi. \r\nFrank was born on January 14, 1911 in Colfax, ND, to Julius and Flora (Weltzin) Soppeland. \r\nOn June 19, 1948, Frank married Bernice H. Leinum at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She died in 2002. \r\nFrank was employed at U.S. Rubber Company, retiring in 1975 after 40 years as a mill operator. \r\nFrank was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the mens' 3 S Friday Bible Study group.\r\nHe is survived by his daughter, Debra (Duaine) Peterson of Plain, WI; three grandchildren, Daniel (Melissa) Burgess of St. Francis, MN, Rebecca Topp of Plain, WI, and Rachel (Andrew) Pfanku of Lodi; three step-grandchildren, Jamie (Nicole) Peterson, Darrin (Deserae) Peterson and Chad Peterson; five great-grandchildren; and seven step great-great grandchildren. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice; brother, Howard Soppeland, and four sisters, Pearl Hoehn, Evelyn Brandon, Olive McLaughlin, and Florence Matas.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008, at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the church.\r\nMemorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 West Grand Ave. Eau Claire, WI 54703.\r\n \r\n
