Wallace Rolly Topper, Sr., 78,of Eau Claire, died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Syverson Nursing Home in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was born on June 11, 1933 in Albertville, Wisconsin; a son of Ernest and Elizabeth Olson Topper.\r\nWallace married Betty Preston on October 20, 1951. They later divorced.\r\n He worked for McDonough Manufacturing in Eau Claire for several years. Farming and construction were his life's work.\r\nHe was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in rural Mondovi, which he helped build. He enjoyed playing cards, dart ball, horse shoes and a good polka. He also enjoyed the time spent in his camper and trips to Arizona.\r\nHe is survived by eight children, Wallace (Elizabeth) Topper Jr. of Altoona, Garth (Barb) Topper of Mondovi, Christina (Tom) Cleasby of Mondovi, Connie (Ronald) Odegard of Eau Claire, Rhonda (Barry Strauch) Brantner of Eau Claire, Sally Jo (Ricky) Birtzer of Eau Claire, Lowell (Terri) Topper of Durand, Joe (Melisa) Topper of Elk Mound, twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Brothers, Lewellyn (Marnene) Topper of Cohasset, MN, Marvin (Judy) Topper of Minneapolis, MN, Ben (Barb) Topper of Downsville sisters, Maxine (David) Zwiefelhofer of Chippewa Falls, Barb Topper of Mondovi, Anna (Richard) Suvada of Chippewa Falls, special friend, Mary Benson of Chippewa Falls along with many nieces and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gordon, Randy and Edward. \r\nMemorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Prince of Peace Covenant Church (S12605 State Rd. 37, Mondovi). With Pastor Clifford Biel and Pastor Steve Allison officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m until time of services at the church on Wednesday. Inurnment will be at the church cemetery.
