Walter R. Mueller, 95, formerly of 912 James St., Eau Claire, died Thursday, September 16, 1999 at Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls. He was born March 22, 1904 to Rudolph and Martha (Boehlke) Mueller in the Town of Washington. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Clear Creek. Walter married Amanda Zimmerman at Epiphany Lutheran Church on January 30, 1927. \r\nThey farmed in the Town of Washington until Walter began working at the Gillette Tire Co., where he was a tire builder for 33 years, until retiring in 1968. He enjoyed farming following his retirement and the opportunity to fish and work in his garden. \r\nHe was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church where he served on church council and participated in the dartball league.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Amanda; six daughters, Gloria (Wayne) Porter of Allen, Elaine (Larry) Lires of Orem,UT, Lavone (Gordon) Stalheim of Hixton, Marlys (David) Bjorklund of Strum, Beverly (Chuck) Clemons of the town of Ludington and Carolyn (Dan) Hanson of Menomonie; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a sister, Lily Henning of Brackett; a sister-in-law, Laurena Mueller of Eau Claire; a half sister, Ione Nelson of Eau Claire; two half brothers, Leonard of North Maplewood, MN, and Rolland (Joan) of Minnetonka, MN; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nWalter was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Loretta Mueller; four brothers, Fred, Ewald, Lorenz, and Elmer; two half brothers, Kenneth and Herbert; and a half sister, Norma.\r\nFuneral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Epiphany Lutheran Church, with Pastor Frederick C. Sauder officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Clear Creek, Eau Claire County. Friends and relatives may call 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
