Wanda J. Standard, 76, of the town of Union, died Friday, October 10, 2008, at home surrounded by her family.\r\nShe was born on August 11, 1932, in Downing, WI, the daughter of Albert and Clara (Eggman) Eley. She graduated from Brandon High School in Brandon, Florida.\r\nWanda married George H. Standard on August 25, 1951, in Florida. He passed away December 12, 2003.\r\nThey moved to Elk Lake in 1957 and raised their four children. Wanda was an aide at Mount Washington Nursing Home and also worked as a technician at Putnam Heights Clinic. She later returned to school and received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from District One Technical Institute in the early 80's. She worked as an LPN at Colfax Area Nursing Home until her retirement.\r\nWanda was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elk Mound.\r\nHer favorite pastimes included being with family, camping, reading, working in her flower garden and sitting under the catalpa trees watching the eagles and enjoying the serenity of the lake. Wanda's two favorite times of the year were Fall and Halloween.\r\nShe is survived by her four children; two sons, Glenn (Marcia) Standard, of Prairie Farm, WI, Robert (Marion) Standard of Colfax; two daughters, Brenda (Steve) Stewart of Colfax, and Terry Brownell of Elk Mound; nine grandchildren, Tricia, Greg, Christina, John, Suzanne, Chad, Ken, Robert, and Beth; twelve (and soon to be thirteen) great grandchildren; and by her very special companion, Kitty. She will be greatly missed by her first cousins that were all like siblings to her.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, George.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elk Mound with Pastor Margaret DeMaris officiating. Burial will be private at a later date in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington. Family and friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at church.\r\nThe family would like to thank the caring staff of St. Joseph's Hospice and the many friends and relatives for their love and support.
