WARREN G. HOTCHKISS, 77, of 3207 Dale Road, died Monday, May 15, 2000 at his residence. He was born on November 8, 1922 in Eau Claire to Robert and Jessie (Baker) Hotchkiss. Warren graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1941. He married June G. Anderson on December 12, 1942 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nHe served as a paratrooper in the United States Army in the Philippines with the 457th Field Artillery of the 11th Airborne Division during WWII, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in November 17, 1945. Warren was a recipient of many citations, including the Purple Heart. \r\nHe was employed at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire as a supervisor of the game room in the Recreation Department for 26 years until retiring in 1981.\r\nWarren was a member of VFW Post #305 and American Legion Post #53.\r\nHe was a fine high school athlete participating in all major sports, excelling in football and baseball. Warren continued to enjoy playing softball until the age of 46, bowled for many years, won the State Ski Jumping Championship, and at one time held the distance record at Hendrickson Hill.\r\nSurvivors include, his wife, June of 57 years; two sons, Warren (Rosalie) Hotchkiss, of Chippewa Falls and Mark Hotchkiss of Eau Claire; three daughters, Pamela "Cookie" (James) Johnson of Chippewa Falls, Sabra "Tootsie" (Dennis) Duback of Tacoma, WA, and Hollis (Brad) House of Eau Claire; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Bauman of Aurora, IL.; sister-in-law, Jeanette Hotchkiss of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews; and his dog "Brushy Ben". \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Glen Billett, Lyman, Robert, Lyle and Wayne Hotchkiss; three sisters, Vera Kleiner, Irene Thompson and Millie Zenner.\r\nWarren enjoyed his grandchildren so much and will be greatly missed by his family.\r\nMemorial services will be at 11 a.m.Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Joel A. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
